Year 9 Netball Match Report

Year 9 Netball Match Report vs. Harris Academy Crystal Palace

Date: 16.10.18

Final Score: MHS 10- 0 Harris Academy CP.

After a busy first term the team were looking forward to their first fixture of the new Netball season. Harris Academy Crystal Palace travelled over to Meridian for an eagerly anticipated fixture. The MHS team was made up of a mixture of year 8 and 9 students and some students were even making their debut!

As first quarter got underway MHS immediately stamped their authority on proceedings with a fantastically worked passage of play which ended in Shelby Sellars scoring in the first minute! Was this going to set the standard for the rest of the game?! Rochelle Prestidge showed great levels of energy playing Wing Defence stamping out a number of attacking threats across the centre third. After turning over possession Rochelle was able to link up with Kristodia Danso to create a flow of MHS attacking opportunities. Shelby continued to sink back to back chances taking the score to 4-0 MHS in the first quarter.

The domination continued with Jessica Thorpe and Mollie Ferguson defending superbly turning defensive plays into outright attacking chances for MHS. We continued to maintain possession and create excellent scoring chances. At half time the score was 6-0 MHS with HACP only having 3 attempts at our net.

In the 3rd and 4th quarter MHS were ruthless in defence and used this exceptionally well to create even more attacking chances. Shelby was on fire and continued her amazing shooting form only missing a handful of chances and scored a total of 9 of MHS total of 10 points. It was an exceptional team performance with everyone doing their job to the highest standard. A special mention should go to Mollie for her fantastic defensive interceptions, Rochelle for her endless energy across the middle third and Shelby for giving everyone a masterclass in shooting.

Well done for a fantastic team performance. Thank you to Fairchildes primary school for letting MHS use their facilities and thank you for Mr Costi for umpiring!

Final Score: MHS 10- 0 Harris Academy CP.
