GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Rewards

Rewards quote

At Meridian High School, we believe that outstanding behaviour is not simply about compliance, but about character. Our systems are designed to help every student internalise the values of Resilience, Ambition and Respect, which underpin our Core 6 expectations. These expectations guide students to present the best version of themselves -  in the classroom, in the community, and beyond. We use a consistent, trauma-informed approach that balances high expectations with meaningful support.

Students who demonstrate positive behaviours and attitudes are recognised regularly through verbal praise, Class Charts points, certificates, trips, and celebration events. Our rewards system is designed not only to acknowledge achievement, but to reinforce the habits - such as effort, self-discipline, and kindness - that lead to long-term success. Parents and carers play a vital role in this process.

We use Class Charts to report both positive and negative behaviours in real time, including notifications of same-day detentions. We strongly encourage families to check their child’s Class Charts profile daily to support open, informed conversations about school life. Reviewing Class Charts regularly allows families to celebrate achievements, spot patterns early, and work together with school staff to address any concerns.

Our aim is to help every student develop not just academically, but personally and socially. By promoting consistent behaviour routines, celebrating effort and progress, and involving families at every stage, we create a culture where students are empowered to thrive - and proud to belong.

At Meridian High School, we operate a range of rewards systems that work collectively to reinforce the messages of our whole ethos of presenting the best version of ourselves  based on our key values of  Challenge, Learn, Achieve, Resilience, Ambition and Respect.

Rewards at Meridian

Our rewards system is designed to reinforce the positive behaviours, attitudes and habits that lead to long-term success.

We aim to:

  • Recognise and celebrate effort and improvement as well as attainment.
  • Promote behaviours that support learning and wellbeing.
  • Reinforce the values of Resilience, Ambition and Respect.
  • Develop motivation- both intrinsic and extrinsic-through feedback and positive reinforcement.
  • Build pride in achievement and a culture of celebration.

We believe that success is not an accident. It is a habit formed through consistency, discipline and belief. Our rewards help cultivate these habits every day.

Classcharts and MCAS

We use Classcharts to log positive and negative behaviour points. This can be accessed on an Internet web browser, or by downloading the Parent Classcharts app using an access code unique to the child. These are shared with parents/carers at the beginning of the year.

For access to student timetables, attendance and reports, we use the My Child at School Parent App. Parents/carers will receive an email invite to sign up to the app.

I Achieve

We have carefully constructed a set of tasks for students to challenge themselves outside of their lessons. Students can complete any of the I Achieve challenges and once completed show this to their form tutor. The form tutor will then give the students an I Achieve completion slp which will be entered into a half termly prize draw where the students can win an electronic device or a £50 voucher.

I Achieve

Above and Beyond- Year Group Challenge

The above and beyond challenges students to really excel in lessons above the high expectations that we hold. If students achieve one of the above and beyond challenges it will be recognised by their teacher through the rewarding of a year group token. Students will then deposit their token in their year group box. The year group that have collected the most tokens by the end of the year will be rewarded with a trip to Thorpe Park.
