School Improvement Priorities
Meridian High School is a rapidly improving secondary school. We are collaborating closely with good and outstanding schools within our Multi Academy Trust as well as other exceptional institutions. Since the last Ofsted inspection (April 2019) there have been significant changes to the curriculum offer and how we teach our students. We are unapologetically ambitious for our community.
Mrs Anderson was appointed as Head of School in 2020 and has rejuvenated the purpose and mission of the school. There has been a significant investment in the professional development of the staff within the school which has ensured subject specialist expertise in every curriculum area, strengthening our teaching practice.
We know our priorities, we know our school, we know our students. We are proud of the work we have done so far and will continue to drive forward to become the centre of excellence for our community.
Our priorities for this term include:
- Focusing on our development of oracy through explicit teaching of vocabulary, including parroting of the key terms.
- Embed the use of Think-Pair-Share
- Continue to develop adaptive teaching strategies for students, including those with SEND to ensure they learn and remember more.
- Addressing any gaps in learning or misconceptions from our checkpoint quizzes and adjusting our curriculum to support students to remember.
