Bike pick up - Ride London

In July 2018, thirteen of our Year 11 students will be fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take to the roads of London to complete the iconic 46mile RideLondon event, alongside 10,000 other members of the public.

Our journey on the PruGoals programme started on the 30th January at the Lee Valley VeloPark at the Olympic village, which had been the venue for the wonderful successes of the British cycling team at the London Olympics in 2012. During this trip, students had the opportunity to get bikes fitted, test them out and understand the importance of fitness, ambition and nutrition. As part of the PruGoals programme, our students have been provided custom-made road bikes worth over £500 and other cycling equipment, which they will be allowed to keep on completion of the event.

None of our students have ever cycled 46 miles before and completing the programme is a daunting prospect but following the 30th of January Launch, students were already downloading the PruGoals app ready to start training and comparing their mileage with other schools all over the country.

After half term, we will be commencing our regular training routine early on Saturday mornings where we will ride around the streets of New Addington in preparation for RideLondon.

The teachers involved (Mr Hodgson, Miss Cole and Mr Giles) would like to thank our PruGOals Year 11s for showing wonderful commitment to the programme so far. We know this will be a fantastic year for RideLondon.
