Computer Science
Students are given the opportunity to develop tier skills and knowledge on how ICT is used and its impact on themselves and society.
There a number of different subjects taught within this subject area. Year 7 are taught Computer Science building on the skills and knowledge gained whilst at Primary School. Year 8 to 11 are taught Presentation, Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Improving Productivity. Students also have the option of choosing GCSE Computer Science as an option in year 9.
Whilst in year 7 Students are taught the skills and knowledge needed to become competent in using Scratch.
Students during year 8 – 11 are taught the skills and knowledge needed to be confident in using Ms PowerPoint, Ms Word, Ms Excel this leads to all students gaining a qualification in European Computer Driving Licence which is equal to a GCSE.
As an option subject students are also given the opportunity to gain a GCSE in Computer Science. This involves Bletchley Park and the history of coding. Computer systems. Computational thinking, algorithms and programming. As well as a Programming project.
