Great assembly today! Mrs Anderson has set year 7/8 the challenge of learning a poem off by heart and reciting it with purpose and passion. The first student to be brave and recite it to her will receive a special letter home and rewards!

PruGOALS Launch Event

PruGOALS Launch Event Tuesday 19th March 2019

On Tuesday the 19th March the 2019 PruGOALS Ride London event was launched. Fifteen lucky students have been selected to take on the 46mile Ride London cycling challenge which will take place on the Sunday 4th August. In preparation of this students attended an event launch day which was hosted by The Dame Kelly Home Trust and Cycle Republic.

The morning session consisted of an inspirational talk from Common Wealth Gold Fencing medallist Claire Bennet. Claire shared her inspirational story of how she dedicated 16 years in pursuit on representing Team GB at London 2012 only miss out marginal in the selection process. The story she shared with the group was thought provoking and gave us an insight on how an elite athlete insight has to deal with sheer disappointment and emotion. Claire then led a Nutrition for Sports Performance workshop which gave our team of rider’s key knowledge of how to effectively fuel the 46mile gruelling ride.

The afternoon sessions consisted of personal bike fitting sessions where students where introduced to their sparkling new bikes. They will be using these to train on and compete on during the event. All students received one to one tuition on setting up their bikes and maintaining them. Thank you to Cycle Republic for providing a brilliant session!

On Friday 5th of April students will begin the training programme which will kick start a number of sessions in the build up to the main event. Thank you to Claire Bennet (Dame Kelly Homes Trust) for hosting such a fantastic day. Watch this space for regular updates.
