Vision, Values and Aims
Our School is a family. That means, above all else, we help each other to learn, grow and improve: now and always.
We are driven by a very simple belief that everyone deserves a first class education. We have high aspirations for every member of our family and believe that everyone is capable of remarkable successes. We provide high quality, challenging and personalised education experiences to ensure that we all have every opportunity to develop as an exceptional leaders and contributors to society.
Meridian High School is a forward looking, and dynamic Academy. We believe education is about developing the whole person, helping learners to understand the many different branches of human knowledge, challenging them to think critically and encouraging a desire for truth and curiosity in life. We further believe that integrity, good manners, hard work, excellent behaviour and personal pride are vital educational tools. We believe in, and promote, traditional British values of:
- Respect for all and the liberty of the individual
- An understanding of the dignity of others
- The freedom to make the most of one's talents
- Respect for the institutions of democracy
- The celebration of diverse cultural and religious beliefs
- A just and fair society
Our dedicated staff is persistent in their commitment to ensuring that students benefit from a range of personalised opportunities inside and outside the classroom, designed to ensure that their achievements match our high expectations. We are driven to ensure that the students will move on to high-level apprenticeships, further education, universities (including those from the Russell Group), and successful careers.
The School motto is: ‘Motivation, Honour, Success’.
We drive students to develop their confidence, to be courageous, to take risks, to support them to try new things and to be successful with their learning. In return we expect them to develop as independent learners, to show resilience and have the determination to persist, even when things are difficult.
Students will be challenged and supported if they are not meeting our high expectations or if they disrespect their learning opportunities or the learning of others. Students are expected to be brave, to challenge themselves and have high aspirations. Students and staff are encouraged to challenge what they know is not true or fair and actively prevent discord. Above all every member our family is expected to uphold our values and to do so with pride.
We set very high standards for all of our students – we will do whatever is needed to ensure each one can value and celebrate both their own and others achievements, with pride and with honour. Success for our students, however, can only come about with focused and dedicated hard work of all appropriate adults. Parents, carers and staff must work together, and with one voice, to bring about our belief, that striving for truth, integrity and success is the hallmark of education.
